Ted. Our
nephew Chris, who lives in Budapest with his lovely wife Dilyana and two year
old son Nicholas, decided to visit us in Aix over the long Easter weekend.
Needless to say, we were thrilled to have family with us for the holiday!
They rented an apartment just
around the corner from ours and we enjoyed wandering the markets, visiting
the local playgrounds and sharing meals.
Naturally, a lot of time was set aside
for heroic battles as Nicky is firmly entrenched in his super hero phase, but we
did manage to find time to color Easter eggs.
During Nicky’s naps, we enjoyed
long conversations with his folks about their careers and expat lives. It is
also interesting to watch a young man grow up in a trilingual household.
Dilyana was born in Bulgaria but went to college in Germany and remained there
as a German instructor, eventually becoming a German citizen.
Young Nicholas is
a true 21st century man, born in Italy, of American and European
parents. Young people like Nicky will be well equipped to guide our world in
the future. Meanwhile...he has “bad guys” to slay.
